“About two-thirds of the developing world’s 3 billion rural people live in about 475 million small farm households, working on land plots smaller than 2 hectares. Many are poor and food insecure and have limited access to markets and services”[1].
You know you have a problem when the farmers are hungry. And in many places, the yields are dropping even lower. Erosion, deforestation, soil degradation, and more sporadic rainfall are all working against the small-holder farmer.
Oftentimes this discouraging situation can be changed. By observing the way God designed His creation to function, we can learn to manage our resources in a way that leads to better yields. And we can learn more about who God is from His design in the things He created.
How can we better connect Faith and Farming? Our faith should speak into how we farm. We need to apply biblical worldview principles to our farm management. How can we use agricultural development to share Jesus’ love to the small-holder farmers in developing countries?
We are developing a network of people that are passionate about agriculture and are passionate about sharing Jesus’ love with small-holder farmers in developing countries. Please drop us an email at info@terrafina.org if you would like to be added to this quarterly email publication.
